Early kittenhood memories

I have only the vaguest memories of my early kittenhood. My sisters and I lived with our mother in a house with lots of humans. They all seemed enormous to us at first, but gradually we realised that some were a lot bigger than others.

Our mother gave us yummy milk and taught us to climb:

Sometimes other humans arrived, so we had to learn about them too. One of them had lovely long stringy things attached to his shoes:

His legs weren't like our humans' legs, either. Our humans had bare flesh on their legs, that left red marks when we jumped at them. But this human had a loose blue skin, which was a wonderful place for sharpening our claws:

He didn't seem very happy about it, however.

It always seemed warm in those days, but we kittens liked to snuggle up together. Preferably on someone's lap:

I had more than one sister then. This human with the blue legs seemed to like the grey sister a lot, and she thought he was wonderful. So whenever he came, she would go to him, and climb on him, and purr.

My other sister and I thought it was more fun to learn about other kinds of shoes:

The odd thing is that when humans get in the shoes, the shoes start to move across the floor. But no matter what we did, we couldn't move them more than a paw's length. And when we got right inside them, like the humans do, the shoes would not move at all.

One evening, we discovered what the humans called a 'house' although it was a bit cramped. But it was fun to explore:

My sisters were talking about me, but I could hear everything they said:

I wasn't very good at jumping, so this was useful to give me some practice:
